Hawthorn blossom in a white jug, four lemons laid along the cloth in front of it, all of it worked in thick strokes against an ochre wall. The painter has kept the whole picture inside a narrow band of cream, olive and yellow, so the only real event is the paint itself — the blossom is built up in dabs that stand off the canvas.
