Handcrafted marble, stone, and metal objects for the home: trays, catchalls, bowls, boxes, candleholders, barware, vases, urns, and furniture. The studio also produces custom fabrication and private-label runs for designers, hotels, and brands.

Each piece is carved or cast, then finished by hand, by artisans at the atelier and foundry we work with in Rajasthan, India. Most stone pieces are cut from a single block rather than assembled. Metal pieces are cast and finished by hand.

Gabriela Anastasio founded Anastasio Home in 2021. She studied conceptual art, with a focus on sculpture, at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and spent more than fifteen years in design and communications across design, fashion and the luxury watch industry, most recently as director of communications at a Swiss luxury watch brand. She is a 2026 Tory Burch Foundation Fellow.

Yes. For stone, machines rough out the dimensions, and the form, edge and finish are worked by hand; large pieces such as furniture are sometimes shaped from the block with hand cutting tools. Metal is cast or machined, then finished by hand.

Our objects are made in limited runs, many of them tied to a specific lot of stone. Some designs can be reproduced when the material is available again; others cannot.

It depends on the stone. A form can be recarved when we hold the same stone again. Rare Earth pieces are cut from the rarest stones we find; when one of those stones runs out, that piece is not made again.

The shape of an object's rim or border. Anastasio Home designs five signature profiles: Scallop, Cord, Athens, Swell, and Slab.

Scallop is the original Anastasio Home profile. Cord is the newest.

They share the same border profile in two silhouettes. The edge is identical; only the outline differs.

Yes, paired with the stones we currently hold. Custom fabrication covers combinations outside standing inventory.

Our vintage collection is sourced to align with the materials and aesthetic of our own work. These pieces carry marks of age and patina that are part of their character. All vintage sales are final.

Marble and travertine in stone, and solid brass, white brass, bronze, and aluminum in metal. Granite, slate, and terrazzo appear on select pieces.

We work mostly in India's native stones, available locally to the atelier in Rajasthan where our pieces are made. A small team also scours India for rare and unique stones, many of them remnants. Cherry Gold, for example, is quarried in Chittorgarh, and Honeycomb comes from Jaisalmer.

Both are calcium carbonate. Marble is a metamorphic stone, limestone recrystallized under heat and pressure, and is valued for its veining. Travertine is a freshwater limestone deposited by mineral springs, recognizable by its naturally pitted surface.

Travertine forms at mineral springs, where gas is trapped in the calcium carbonate as it sets. The pitting is the record of that gas and is characteristic of the material.

Marble is composed primarily of calcite and sits around 3 on the Mohs scale. That is soft enough to carve by hand and soft enough to mark.

Our Quick Source stones are Affogato, Biscotti, Cherry Gold, Cloud, Emerald, Havasu, Honeycomb, House Party, Matcha, Moonrock, Oyster, Sea Grass, and Travertine.

Our Advance Source stones are Ardesia, Cinnabar, Desert, Dolphin, Fin, Goldspun, Lava, Metamorphic, Panther, Pink Puff, and Torrone. They are sourced to order and carry additional lead time, unless a product page shows the piece in stock.

No. House Party and Moonrock are granite, Ardesia is slate, and Dolphin and Torrone are terrazzo. Most of the rest of the range is marble or travertine.

Yes. Stones outside our standing inventory can be sourced to a project's specification through custom fabrication or private label.

Brass is heavier and unlacquered, so it develops a patina over time. Aluminum is lighter, forms its own protective oxide layer, and holds its finish with minimal care.

Brass left without a protective coating, so the surface reacts with air and handling. It is a living finish that moves from gold to honey to antique brown.

Polished and honed finishes are available on custom orders. Pieces from the collection come in the finish shown on the product page. A polished surface is reflective; a honed surface is matte and disguises etching better.

Polishing takes the stone to a reflective sheen. Honing stops short of that, leaving a matte surface. Honed suits pieces that will be used daily, because etching reads less on a matte surface.

No. Veining, tone, and surface detail vary from block to block, so no two pieces are identical. The photograph shows the form and the stone, not the exact specimen.

Veining is geological, not applied. Each object is cut from its own piece of stone.

No. Veining, tonal shift, and mineral movement are properties of natural stone and are expected in every piece.

Yes, and they usually do. Two trays of the same form cut in the same stone from adjacent blocks will not match exactly.

Add a note at checkout describing what you would like and we will do our best to accommodate it. Exact matches are not guaranteed.

We can work toward a close match when we hold the same stone. Exact matching across separate lots is not possible with natural material.

Not exactly. We hand-select the stone for each order to keep color and pattern as close as we can, but natural stone always varies in color and pattern from piece to piece.

Calcite is translucent at the surface, so incident light changes how veining and tone read. A piece photographed in daylight will look different under warm interior light.

Yes, and that is intended. Marble absorbs oils and develops a patina. Unlacquered brass oxidizes and deepens in color with age and touch.

Yes, particularly in travertine. Pores, fissures, and mineral inclusions are part of how the material formed.

A fissure is a natural separation formed during the stone's geology and is structurally sound. A crack is damage. Fissures are expected in natural stone; cracks are not.

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth, and use a pH-neutral stone cleaner when needed. Avoid acidic cleaners, bleach, and abrasive pads, and blot spills you would rather not keep.

Vinegar, citrus-based cleaners, bleach, and abrasive powders or pads. Acids dissolve calcite and abrasives scratch it.

No. Vinegar is acidic and will etch the surface.

A cleaner formulated to sit at neither acidic nor alkaline extremes, so it lifts soil without reacting with calcite. Stone-specific cleaners are labeled this way.

No. Sealing is your choice, based on how you use a piece. A penetrating stone sealer slows staining, but it does not make stone acid-proof. If you seal, reapply periodically; how often depends on use.

Yes. Stone is a generous surface to serve and gather on. Acidic foods and drinks can stain or etch bare stone over time, and we are proponents of letting that happen: the marks are part of living with natural stone. Seal the piece, use coasters, and blot spills if you prefer to keep it closer to new.

A soft, matte mark left when acid dissolves a microscopic layer of the surface. It is chemical, not a stain.

Staining is a discoloration absorbed into the stone. Etching is a reaction that dulls the polish. Etching changes the surface; staining changes the color.

A high polish can be refinished by a stone professional. Light etching often settles into the patina of a well-used piece.

No. Use a trivet. Thermal shock can crack stone.

Treat stone as a serving surface rather than a cutting board. Knives will scratch it.

No. Hand-clean all stone and metal pieces. The dishwasher's heat, water, and detergents can damage stone and strip patina from metal.

No. Our brass, bronze, and aluminum objects are made for decorative use only.

Let it age with occasional soap-and-water cleaning, or polish it back to brightness with a gentle brass cleaner. Keep it dry. A thin film of beeswax or mineral oil offers light protection.

Wipe with a soft cloth. Aluminum forms its own protective oxide layer and holds its finish, so no polishing or sealing is required.

Perfume contains alcohol and often citrus oils, both of which can mark bare stone. A vanity tray that has held the same bottles for years will show where they stood.

Lift from underneath with both hands rather than by the edge or a handle, and set it down rather than dragging it.

They are designed for interior use. Freeze-thaw cycles, rain, and prolonged sun will affect natural stone and unprotected metal.

Generally, depth. A tray is flat or nearly flat and presents what sits on it. A catchall has walls deep enough to contain what is dropped into it. A dish is usually small and single-purpose, like a ring dish.

Eight to twelve inches long. That is enough to line up perfume and a soap without the tray reading as a surface.

Four to six inches. A ring dish at that scale holds what comes off the hands at the end of the day.

Seven to nine inches, with walls. Keys and cards arrive fast and unsorted, so depth matters more than footprint.

A small dish, usually four to six inches, kept on a nightstand or beside a sink to hold rings, earrings, and a watch.

Shallow stone dishes and small trays suit a sink edge. Keep the piece out of standing water; sealing is your choice, based on how much water it sees.
