Ebru is made on water: pigment cut with ox gall is scattered across a bath thickened with gum tragacanth, where it spreads into cells instead of sinking, then drawn into shape with a stylus before paper is laid down and lifted. The image transfers in a single pass and cannot be revised. Here a saffron ground breaks into hundreds of separate cells with navy and olive pooling along one edge, two pink roses rising on a single stem — signed at the stem, framed in figured wood. Care Instructions
